WELCOME TO DIRTLATEMODEL.COM.
My name is Jackson Braun. I'm 27 years old, and I've been around and worked in the dirt racing industry for over 15 years now. I've taken many roles in the industry in that time, including video camera operator, video production, social media manager, web developer, driver registration, timing and scoring, and dabbling in many other roles on the operations side. From the "good ol' grassroots dirt track" times to the highs of being a staff member for the XR Super Series interacting with national Dirt Late Model talent, one thing has remained constant for me: stats and information. Over the years, the notebook pages full of stats and races I kept as a kid evolved into spreadsheets, which I continued to optimize and refine. The past few years have been spent developing ideas which would eventually become TRACKSTATS, which is the database that feeds DIRT LATE MODEL.
Take a look around the site and explore all the different features we have to offer. I've built an Explore page that details most of the site's content. We've got lots of cool new stuff right off rip, such as Grandstand Grades, Stream Scores, Head to Head Comparisons, and the Road Trip Builder. If any of those pique your interest, check out the Explore page to learn more about how they work. Some of the features will require a PRO membership, which are priced at $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year.
The obvious ways to support the DIRT LATE MODEL project are to either become a PRO member, or become an advertising partner. However, the very best way to support the project is simple and FREE: spread the word, share the content, and tell your friends about DIRT LATE MODEL. This isn't meant to be some flash in the pan product that fizzles out after a few months. DIRT LATE MODEL is set up to support the industry leading into the future. The DIRT LATE MODEL you see at launch is not the final product either: we are still working on evolving and brainstorming new features. It's not going to be "set it and forget it", "what you see is what you get", or anything like that.
With that being said, the data currently on DIRT LATE MODEL is not complete. I'm still working on backfilling race results, which in turn will continue to improve the accuracy of the current-day rankings. If you see something in the rankings change unexpectedly from day-to-day or week-to-week, don't be alarmed; it is probably because there's older races being added to the database. Along with backfilling race results, there's also many other features that I have built into the site that I'm still working on configuring, such as historic payout data, event names, official links for drivers, tracks and series, dates of birth and/or death, family relationships, track/series champions, and more. If you see anything that is inaccurate or missing, you can always submit a correction by going to the Correction Form. This project is a work in progress, and I look forward to continuing to add to it and make it the best version of DIRT LATE MODEL possible. I'm only one person, so I appreciate any patience, along with any corrections, communication, or feedback that helps improve the accuracy and efficiency of the project.
Our rankings come from data only, and do not reflect personal opinions whatsoever. Think of the rating like a golf score: lower is better. It's built from a driver's best 10 race finishes, and it accounts for how tough the competition was. Running 3rd or even 13th against top competition at a crown jewel carries more weight than winning a local Friday night show with 8 cars. As more races get added to the database, these numbers will continue to sharpen. Drivers will be ranked overall, and by type: Super, Limited, Sportsman, 604 Crate, and 602 Crate. Dirt Late Model racing is a global sport: Canada, Australia, Mexico, even South Africa races are in our database.
LOOKING AHEAD
Once we're going and stable, we have plans to launch a Merch store. I'm committed to providing cool, quality products that Dirt Late Model fans will enjoy, and the branding is something that anybody can represent at a dirt track and fit in.
I also have plans for partnerships with photographers in the works. I am well aware that 99% of photographers can't just give away their content, and have based my implementation of photo logic around this. I would like to eventually be able to give back to photographers who support our platform once the budget allows. I won't go too in depth in future plans here, but I want to support photographers as much as possible by providing them a platform to host their images, get them seen by Dirt Late Model fans, and provide those fans with direct links to buy photos from the photographer. There's also opportunities for tracks/promoters/series and drivers to partner with DLM. Every person and partnership will be different - I'm open to working with you to find the right partnership.
IN CONCLUSION
I'm open and honest. I'm willing to listen to feedback, and I'm not trying to hide anything here or beat around the bush with rumor mills. If you want to start a conversation, feel free to contact me and we can talk through whatever is on your mind in regards to DIRT LATE MODEL, the industry, etc. Also, if something is not working as intended, let me know. The easiest way to do this is visit the Contact page and fill out the form. If you know me personally, reach out via more personal channels.
Welcome to this new era. Create an account, grab a PRO membership, or spread the word and tell your friends. DIRT LATE MODEL is here.
